PhD position available in Civil Engineering HKUST
Applications are invited for a PhD position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) under the supervision of Dr. Elias Dimitrakopoulos. The overriding goal of this position is to contribute with original experimental, analytical, and numerical research to widen the adoption of bamboo for structural use. The particular focus is on multiple bamboo culms bolted on steel connectors at their ends. Eligibility
This is a call for high caliber candidates with a Master in civil engineering, who wish to pursue a PhD degree in Civil Engineering at the HKUST.
English Requirements:
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
Paper-based test (PBT) score ≥ 650, Internet-based test (iBT) score ≥ 95
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS): overall score ≥ 7.0, all sub-scores ≥ 6.0
Funding
The standard studentship is approximately HK$18,000 (approximately €2,000) per month tax free. Strong candidates will be supported to apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$300,000 (approximately €34,800) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$12,000 per year, for 3 years.
