Το Τμήμα Πληροφορικής του ΟΠΑ προκηρύσσει  μία (1) θέση για μεταδιδακτορική έρευνα, δύο (2) θέσεις για διδακτορική έρευνα και μία (1) θέση για ερευνητή μηχανικό/προγραμματιστή.

This is a call for Expression of Interest for funded Researcher positions in the Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). The candidate will be working with the research team of Prof. Iordanis Koutsopoulos. The successful candidate will be actively engaged in cutting-edge research in ML and AI such as Explainable AI, Continual learning, Federated Learning, Transfer Learning, Self-supervised learning, Online Learning, Edge Computing, 6G, Software-defined networking, and other cutting-edge topics. The candidate should have broad knowledge of the state-of-the-art in AI, good mathematical background, and experience with ML programming frameworks (e.g. PyTorch).

The positions offer a unique opportunity for fundamental research, and their exact focus will be determined also based the interests and skills of the successful candidate. Furthermore, the candidate will have the opportunity to link his/her work with applications of critical societal impact in sectors such as Health, Energy, Cybersecurity, and 6G Wireless Networking. The successful candidate will also work closely with the PI in writing relevant grant proposals.

The positions are:

• 1 position for Postdoctoral researcher,
•  2 positions for Ph.D. students,
• 1 position for Research Software engineer/programmer.

A) Necessary qualifications for Postdoctoral Researcher positions:

• Age: up to 30 y.o.
• Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Informatics, Computer Science or another related field.
• Scientific publications on top scientific journals and conferences (IEEE, ACM).
• 1-2 Recommendation letters (will be requested before admittance).
• Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team while showing initiative and independence.
• Excellent written command to write and/or coordinate the preparation of research grant proposals
• Prior experience with European/National research projects will be considered a plus.
• High level of organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

• Conducting research on the topics above
• Writing research papers in collaboration with the PI for top-tier conferences and journals
• Leading the team’s research activities in the context of current research projects
• Writing relevant grant proposals, in collaboration with the PI
• Dissemination of results at scientific conferences, workshops, and seminars
• Assisting in the supervision of graduate students

B) Necessary qualifications for Ph.D. student positions:

• Age: up to 27 y.o.
• B.Sc. in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Informatics, Computer
• Science, Physics or other related field, with G.P.A > 7.5.
• M.Sc. in a field related to the ones above.
• Strong knowledge in at least 2 areas out of the following: Mathematical optimization, Wireless
• networks, Machine Learning/AI, Algorithms.
• Very good background on programming (C/C++, Python, Java) and AI tools.
• Military obligations: fulfilled or postponed up to 2027.
• 1-2 Recommendation letters (will be requested before admittance).
• High level of organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

• Conducting research, experimental and implementation work on the topics above
• Writing research papers in collaboration with the PI for top-tier conferences and journals
• Leading research threads in the context of current research projects
•  Assisting with specific roles in relevant grant proposals, in collaboration with the PI
• Dissemination of results at scientific conferences, workshops, and seminars
• Assisting in the supervision of M.Sc. and undergraduate students

C) Necessary qualifications for Research engineer positions:

• Age: up to 24 y.o.
• B.Sc. in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Informatics, Computer Science or another related field.
• Strong programming background and ability to learn quickly.
• Strong expertise in developing mobile and web applications
• 1 Recommendation letter (will be requested before admittance).
• Military obligations: fulfilled or postponed up to 2025.

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

• Conducting experimental and implementation work on the topics above
• Participating in research papers in collaboration with the PI for top-tier conferences and journals.
