1. Program at a glance
The MSc in “Biomedical Engineering and Technology” is a 1.5-year postgraduate program (90 ECTS) conducted in English by the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of West Attica, Greece.
Target group:
Individuals holding a Bachelor's (B.Sc.) degree in engineering, technology, life sciences, health sciences, or related fields, who seek a career change in Biomedical Engineering.

Students have the option to spend one semester at the University of Plymouth, UK, under privileged terms and conditions. They can earn a second MSc diploma in 'Medical Engineering' alongside the MSc diploma in 'Biomedical Engineering and Technology' from UniWA. For more information, visit the official program website.
2. Program format
Studies start: October 2026 (the weekly schedule for the 1st semester will be announced in late September 2026)
Duration: 1.5 years (3 academic semesters), 90 ECTS
Teaching language: English
The MSc program is delivered in a blended format. During the first two semesters, lectures are primarily online, except for the final month of each semester, when activities requiring physical presence in Athens take place, including laboratories, exams, site visits, and demonstrations. No online alternative is available for these activities. During the third semester, students are required to complete their diploma thesis. Depending on the topic, the thesis may be conducted with physical presence, fully online, or in a blended format.
For certain online courses, a hybrid option may be offered, allowing some students to attend in person while others join online, depending on organizational considerations.
3. Admissions procedure
The selection of postgraduate students will take place in two application rounds, provided that the maximum number of admitted students, who have secured their place as described below, is not reached during the first round.
First round
First round application period: 01 April - 31 May 2026
Interview period: 02-05 June 2026 (online)
Announcement of preliminary evaluation results: 08-12 June 2026
Deposit to secure your place (non-refundable): After the announcement of the evaluation results, successful applicants are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of €500 by 30 June 2026 in order to secure their place.
Student registration: 28 September - 09 October 2026, physical presence mandatory, there is no online registration option available.
English language test: 03 June 2026, 12:00 – 14:00 (Athens time) (online). Only for those who do not hold at least B2 level English certification.
Second round (only if the maximum number of students has not been filled during the first-round)
Second round application period: 24 August - 11 September 2026
Interview period: 15-18 September 2026 (online) 1
Announcement of preliminary evaluation results: 21-23 September 2026 1
Deposit to secure your place (non-refundable): After the announcement of the evaluation results, successful applicants are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of €500 by 28 September 2026 in order to secure their place.
Student registration: 28 September - 09 October 2026, physical presence mandatory, there is no online registration option available.
English language test: 15 September 2026, 12:00 – 14:00 (Athens time) (online). Only for those who do not hold at least B2 level English certification.
Tuition fees: 2000 €
The fees are payable in three instalments as follows:

According to the study regulations, the MSc program will be organized provided that the minimum number of participants, which is 10 students, is reached. In the event that the MSc program is not conducted due to failure to meet the minimum required number of students, the tuition fee installments already paid by the newly enrolled students shall be refunded.

5. Required documents
Please note that documents 1, 2, 3 and 4 should be validated (stamp + signature from the issuing organization) and translated in English or Greek. If the original validated documents are issued in English or Greek, no translation is required.
A scanned copy of documents 1, 2, 3 and 4 is sufficient for the online application. Only successful candidates will be asked to present the original validated and translated (if needed) documents during the student registration period in October 2025.
6. Important info for interested applicants who are currently undergraduate students expected to complete their studies before the beginning of the MSc Program in October 2026
Applicants who are currently undergraduate students and are expected to complete their studies before the start of the MSc Program in October 2026 are eligible to apply for admission. Applicants falling into this category must include with their application a certificate issued by the relevant Secretariat of their Bachelor program outlining all pending tasks required to complete their degree. Successful applicants from this group must submit their graduation certificate during the student registration period before the commencement of the MSc Program in October 2026.

8. Announcement of results
First round eligible candidates will be called for online personal interviews from 02-05 June 2026 (online)
First round preliminary evaluation results will be announced at the MSc program’s website 08-12 June 2026 3 (applicants will be notified by email).
Second round (if any) eligible candidates will be called for online personal interviews from 21-23 September 2026 (online) 3

If the minimum number of registered students is not met, the program will not be organized. In such a scenario, the first installment will be refunded, and students will be notified after the deadline for the first installment.
9. Registration of successful candidates
Registration of successful candidates will take place at the premises of the MSc program at the University of West Attica beginning from 28 September - 09 October 2026. There is no option for online registration.
