Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης: International Studies – Specialization in European Studies (2026-2027)

The first application period for the joint (double degree) Master’s Program in “International Studies – specialization in European Studies” (academic year 2026-2027) runs from Monday, March 23, 2026 till Friday, April  14, 2026 (midnight EET).

Program Overview

The MA in International Studies – Specialization in European Studies is jointly offered by:

  • The School of Political Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)
  • The Department of Cultures, Politics and Society (Dipartimento di Culture, Politica e Società), University of Turin (UniTo)

Graduates receive two diplomas (double degree):

  1. A postgraduate diploma from AUTH: International Studies – Specialization in European Studies
  2. A postgraduate diploma from UniTo: Scienze Internazionali, profilo Studi Europei

The program is taught entirely in English and is open to graduates of recognized higher education institutions who have completed at least their first cycle of studies.
Duration: 2 years (120 ECTS)

  • Year 1: Courses at AUTH in Thessaloniki
  • Year 2: Courses at UniTo in Turin

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to graduates of accredited higher education institutions who have completed at least one full cycle of studies. Strong English skills (minimum C1) are required.

  1. CV (in English)
  2. Copy of your degree(s) or certificate of completion of studies
  3. Transcript (detailed list of all grades)
  4. Proof of English proficiency (C1 level) OR proof your previous degree was taught in English
  5. Motivation letter (up to 500 words, in English) 

Selection Process

Exams for applicants who meet the minimum requirements take place on April 24, 2026 as follows: 

  • A written online exam, at 17:00 (EET – the time currently in Greece) interview: Immediately following the written exam (individual for each candidate)

Applicants are advised to block that date/time. 

Both stages are conducted online, so you can participate from anywhere in the world. Candidates will receive more practical details on the exams after the end of the application cycle. 

The evaluation criteria according to the Program Regulation will include the academic background and CV, the written exam performance and the outcome of the personal interview. 

Successful candidates will receive either:

  • Unconditional offer – submit required documents in person or via courier
  • Conditional offer – for those awaiting their Bachelor’s degree (deadline applies)

Exam Format

  • Written test: Multiple-choice questions (20 minutes)
  • Interview: Oral exam (20 minutes per candidate)
