The School of Dentistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki announces, for the academic year 2024-2025, the launch of the Postgraduate Program "Periodontology & Implant Biology", in accordance with the provisions of Chapter I [Organization and Operation of Second and Third Cycle Programs of Study] of N. 4957/21-07-2022 (FEK 141/t.A ́/21/07-2022), “New Horizons in Higher Education Institutions: Enhancing the Quality, Functionality and Connection of Higher Educational Institutions with Society and Other Provisions”, subject to publication in the Government Gazette, and invites all interested candidates to apply.
The number of admissions per year is set to four (4) postgraduate students. Eligible applicants should be:
a) Graduates from Hellenic Dental Schools
b) Graduates of recognized foreign institutions of equivalent status, within or outside the European Union, whose institution is included in the National Registry of Foreign Recognized Higher Education Institutions, (based on articles 304, 307 of the Law N. 4957/2022).

Applications together with the necessary supporting documents are submitted to the Secretariat of the School of Dentistry. Each application should be accompanied by:
• Copy of the degree. For foreign applicants, it is required that the degree awarding Institution is included in the National Registry of Foreign Recognized Higher Education Institutions and the title type is included in the National Registry of Foreign Recognized Academic Title Types of foreign recognized institutions listed on the DOATAP website. The title of study and the certificate of analytical score (which indicates ECTS, analytic score of each course with a summary description of the content and accurate description of clinical practice of each subject module) should be in English, or translated into Greek, with validation by the corresponding Greek consular authority of the country, where the respective institution operates in both cases.
• Certificate of analytical score.
• Detailed CV.
• At least 1 year of clinical dental experience. Evidence of any professional (clinical), educational, research or other scientific activity. Clinical experience is demonstrated by: (a) a certificate of dental license and services rendered receipt, or (b) a certificate of dental service in the armed forces or in other governmental services; or (c) by registration with the ETAA/TSAY or an equivalent insurance agency abroad.
• Certificate of fluency in English at the level of C2 in accordance with the ASEP notice, which should have been obtained before submitting the application.
• Proof of knowledge of other foreign languages at the level of B2.
• Foreign candidates are required to have certified knowledge of Greek of at least A1 level at the time of application submission, and of B1 level at least before the commencement of the clinical service (February 2025).
• At least two (2) letters of recommendation for graduates of Dental Schools outside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh).
The candidates are assessed by a written or an oral examination on the corresponding material chapters of J. Lindhe’s textbook [Lindhe's Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, 2 Volume Set, 7th Edition; Mariano Sanz (Editor), Tord Berglundh (Editor), William V. Giannobile (Editor), Niklaus P. Lang (Editor); ISBN: 978-1-119-43888-5; October 2021; Wiley-Blackwell].
The interviews and examinations will take place after the deadline of application submissions, according to a schedule announced by the Secretariat on the website of the School of Dentistry. The posting of the final evaluation table of the candidates will be done after the General Assembly of the Department. Any objections will be accepted within 5 days of the announcement of the results.
The postgraduate students who will be admitted to the program are obliged to procure -on their own expense- the equipment necessary for their clinical training and will be charged with tuition fees, as amended by the decision of the University Senate, in accordance with the Article 5 of the Internal Regulation of operation of the programs for postgraduate studies. The final evaluation table of the candidates will take place after a General Meeting of the Department. Any objections will be accepted within 5 days from the announcement of the results.

In case of misalignment between the Greek and the English content of the announcement the latter prevails over the former.
