The School of Dentistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki announces, for the academic year 2026-2027, the launch of the Postgraduate Program "Periodontology & Implant Biology", in accordance with the provisions of Chapter I [Organization and Operation of Second and Third Cycle Programs of Study] of N. 4957/21-07-2022 (FEK 141/t.A ́/21/07-2022), “New Horizons in Higher Education Institutions: Enhancing the Quality, Functionality and Connection of Higher Educational Institutions with Society and Other Provisions”, subject to publication in the Government Gazette, and invites all interested candidates to apply.
The number of admissions per year is set to four (4) postgraduate students.
Eligible applicants should be:
a) Graduates from Hellenic Dental Schools
b) Graduates of recognized foreign Institutions of equivalent status, within or outside the European Union, whose institution is included in the National Registry of Foreign Recognized Higher Education Institutions, (based on articles 304, 307 of the Law N. 4957/2022).

Applications together with the necessary supporting documents are submitted to the Secretariat of the School of Dentistry. Each application should be accompanied by:
The selection of postgraduate candidates will be based upon the following criteria:
a. Overall grade of the Bachelor's Degree - Percentage of 15%
b. Grades of the undergraduate courses in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry - Percentage of 10%
c. Other details of the candidate's CV - Percentage of 15%
• experience in dental practice after graduation
• ranking among the first three (3) graduates
• certified knowledge of computer, other foreign languages and attendance of scientific conferences.
d. Previous research and scientific activity of the candidate - Percentage of 10%
e. The general personality and scientific composition of the candidate (and proficiency in the Greek language, if the applicant is foreigner), as evidenced by an interview with a three-member Committee for the Selection of Admissions - Percentage of 20%
f. Scientific competence of the candidate after passing examinations in the subject of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry - Percentage of 30%
The candidates are assessed by a written or an oral examination on the corresponding material chapters of J. Lindhe’s textbook [Lindhe's Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, 2 Volume Set, 7th Edition; Mariano Sanz (Editor), Tord Berglundh (Editor), William V. Giannobile (Editor), Niklaus P. Lang (Editor); ISBN: 978-1-119-43888-5; October 2021; Wiley-Blackwell].
The interviews and examinations will take place after the deadline of application submissions, according to a schedule announced by the Secretariat on the website of the School of Dentistry. The posting of the final evaluation table of the candidates will be done after the General Assembly of the Department. Any objections will be assessed within 5 days of the results announcement.
The postgraduate students who will be admitted to the program are obliged to procure -on their own expense- the equipment necessary for their clinical training and will be chαrged with tuition fees, as amended by the decision of the University Senate, in accordance with the Article 14 of the Internal Regulation of operation of the programs for postgraduate studies.
