1. The School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics of the University Center of International Programmes of Studies of the International Hellenic University invites interested parties to apply for the Postgraduate Programme of Studies "MA in Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Studies: Culture and International Relations" for the spring semester of the academic year 2025-2026. All courses are taught exclusively in English. The academics teaching on the programme come from universities both abroad and in Greece.
2. The postgraduate studies for this MA programme lead to the acquisition of a Master’s Degree. The programme's curriculum requires the attendance of taught courses for two academic semesters and the submission of a master’s dissertation. The duration of the full-time study programme in order to obtain the MA degree is three academic semesters. For students who so wish, there is also the possibility, upon request, of attending the programme on a part–time basis. In this case, the duration of the MA will be doubled.
3. The MA in Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Studies: Culture and International Relations of the International Hellenic University accepts, after a careful selection process, graduates of History, Archaeology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Political Sciences, Geography, International Relations, Theology, Journalism, Balkan, Mediterranean or Oriental Studies, and other related subject areas, from Greek universities or equivalent institutions from abroad and from Technological Educational Institutions of related subject areas according to Law 4957/2022 and 4610/2019, as applicable.
The MA in Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Studies: Culture and International Relations is designed to provide a postgraduate (Master’s) level education in diverse areas of interest such as Archaeology, Ethnography, Historical Geography, Art, Religion, Mythology, History, International Relations, Politics and Diplomacy.
4. The selection of postgraduate students will be undertaken in accordance with the provisions of current legislation based on the relevance of the subject of the candidate’s first degree with the subject area of the postgraduate programme, the grades received in first degree qualifications, the grades received on the thesis and undergraduate courses related to the MA, the candidate’s certified proficiency in the English language and the candidate’s curriculum vitae.
5. Interested parties are invited to submit their application by January 9th 2026 (non-Greek applicants) and by January 20th 2026 (Greek applicants) or until places are filled, by following instructions at the link https://www.ihu.gr/ucips/shsse/applications. Holders of degrees issued by non – Greek universities, because of the time consuming procedure of validating these degrees, must pay attention to the instructions in the link: https://www.ihu.gr/ucips/authforeigndocs. All documents submitted during the stage of application (degrees, language certificates, etc.) will be thoroughly examined for authentication before the stage of enrolment.

Prospective students who submit an application and the supporting documents, give their consent to the processing of their personal data for the purpose of assessment of their candidacy in order to become accepted to a postgraduate programme of the International Hellenic University.
If a candidate is not selected, his/her details are deleted from the School’s archives within a period of 30 days. A candidate whose application is not successful is entitled to receive the documents submitted, otherwise the documents are destroyed within 30 days.
* D.O.A.T.A.P – Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (Hellenic NARIC) is the official body of the Hellenic Republic for the academic recognition of titles and qualifications awarded by foreign Higher Education Institutions, as well as for the provision of accurate information on the Higher Educations Institutions and qualifications in Greece and abroad. According to article 304 of Law 4957/2022, universities and research centers are responsible for the recognition of the foreign title. For this purpose, universities and research centers examine whether the institution awarding the title is included in the National Register of Recognized Foreign Institutions and whether the title itself is included in the National Register of Title Types of Recognized Foreign Institutions posted on D.O.A.T.A.P. website
