Το Εργαστήριο Συστημάτων Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης και Μάθησης (AILS) της Σχολής Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών (ΗΜ&ΜΥ) του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου προκηρύσσει θέσεις backend developers καθώς και frontend software engineers για να ενταχθούμε στην ομάδα προγραμματιστών και ερευνητών του Εργαστηρίου. JOB OPENINGS
We are looking for backend as well as frontend software engineers to join our team of developers and researchers from the Artificial Intelligence and Learning Systems Laboratory (AILS) of the National Technical University of Athens. AILS is working mainly in European research and innovation projects and is a leading technical provider in the field of digital cultural heritage. In this course, it has developed and is developing a number of innovative tools, such as:
- CrowdHeritage, a crowdsourcing platform for engaging different audiences to enrich cultural collections;
- MINT, a data aggregation and management platform which is being used by hundreds of cultural heritage organisations.
- WithCulture, a (under development) platform for discovering and creatively reusing cultural content.
and a number of other platforms and tools in the fields of digital humanities, data interoperability, semantics, and named entity recognition and disambiguation.
AILS developers are also collaborating directly with Europeana to build new features and improve the European Digital Library.
We expect you to be a tech-savvy young professional, who is curious about new digital technologies and enjoys writing code for creating functional and appealing applications and research prototypes ensuring great user experience. As part of your responsibilities, you will be involved in the design and development of innovative applications of research results in the area of data management and digital cultural heritage and will have the opportunity to take initiatives and propose your own solutions. Both frontend and backend skills are appreciated to meet the multilevel requirements set forth by the various tools which are being developed and enhanced by our team in the course of several European projects. The position will allow you to enjoy the advantages of working in the environment of a University Research Laboratory, while at the same time propel your career using cutting-edge technologies to implement robust and highly competitive software solutions.
Requirements
- BS degree in Computer Science or other related discipline. MSc/PhD is considered a plus.
- Strong problem solving skills and good understanding of the entire development cycle
- Professional experience in software design and development will be highly appreciated. We are looking both for junior and senior developers and experience will be considered accordingly in the developer’s salary.
- For backend developers: strong programming skills in Java. Experience with SQL and noSQL database design and implementation, indexing solutions, and search engines; Knowledge of a backend framework to support REST based development (e.g. SpringBoot, Vert.x, Play, etc) would be considered a plus.
- For frontend developers: experience with JavaScript and respective runtime environments, modern Web application frameworks (e.g. Angular, Vue.js or other), writing HTML and CSS, package managers.
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with Git
- Very good knowledge of English (verbal & written)
