The International Master in South European Studies (EUROSUD) offers a unique opportunity to engage in the multidisciplinary study of the South European region with five partner universities over two years and to obtain a Multiple or Double Master's degree, depending on the chosen study track.
EUROSUD provides a truly international two-year learning experience in which students study, train, and conduct research at renowned universities within Europe's CIVIS – Europe's Civic University Alliance, located in Southern Europe—Spain (UAM), Italy (SUR), and France (AMU)—as well as in Brussels, Belgium (ULB), the heart of the European Union, and Bucharest, Romania (UB).
EUROSUD focuses on a region with a distinct identity and a pivotal role in European and global affairs. Southern Europe has witnessed major challenges, including the transformation of liberal democratic norms, the rise of populist and anti-establishment movements, and the economic and social dynamics of regional integration. Other key issues include post-colonial ties, large-scale migration flows, climate change, socio-demographic changes, corruption, governance quality, and the evolving security landscape in the Eastern Mediterranean.
EUROSUD examines these developments through diverse theoretical and methodological approaches across the humanities and social sciences. The program trains graduates to acquire unparalleled regional expertise, a solid foundation in international affairs, and advanced research and professional skills, preparing them for international careers or doctoral studies.
Applications for admission to the Master's program are submitted electronically through our online admissions application. Before beginning the admissions process, we recommend reviewing the following information and following the instructions on the Admissions Step-by-Step page.
